Paddy McCarthy is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on May 31, 1983 in Dublin, Ireland. Patrick Richard McCarthy (born 31 May 1983) is an Irish former professional footballer who played as a center-back and most recently, for English team Crystal Palace. He currently is the coach for under-18s in Crystal Palace. Born in Dublin He began his career in football as a player in junior football at Manchester City before joining Leicester City in 2005. He played for 3 seasons, prior to joining Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2007. He remained at Charlton for just 12 months before then joining Crystal Palace in the summer of 2008 and remained there until his retirement in 2016. McCarthy is also an active player with Boston United and Notts County on loan throughout the first period of his career, as well as Sheffield United, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End, also as an on loan player. In December of 2016 McCarthy was appointed the as the coach for the Under-18s in Crystal Palace, replacing Ken Gillard who left Crystal Palace in the month of November, to sign with Arsenal.
McCarthy was transferred from Charlton Athletic for a fee of PS650,000 in the month of June 2007. He stayed for just one time in The Valley, moving across the south-east of London to sign with Crystal Palace in the summer of 2008, and Mark Hudson travelling in the opposite direction. McCarthy was plagued by a string of shoulder injuries, which prevented his participation in the majority of the 2008-09 season as well as the 2009-10 seasons. However, it didn’t stop him from being appointed Palace captain prior to the 2010-11 season.
McCarthy signed for Bolton Wanderers on loan in March 2015, a prankster had telephoned the West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis pretending to be Bolton manager Neil Lennon weeks previously, with an enquiry for Gareth McAuley as the main point of interest. Pulis himself recommended his old Palace captain McCarthy, whom Bolton duly signed in an unconnected incident later in the season. McCarthy made five appearances in a Bolton shirt, but had to return to Palace after picking up an injury in Wanderers 2–2 draw with Brentford at Griffin Park.
On 13 June 2016, it was announced that McCarthy would be released by Crystal Palace on expiry of his contract on 30 June.
McCarthy was a favorite for Leicester supporters, thanks to his shrewd approach to football, and in July 2006, he was appointed captain of the club in the 2006-2007 season. The season ended after he injured his shoulder after a crash during training in February 2007. However, McCarthy expressed his wish to quit Leicester prior to the new season began, even though he was offered a new contract.

McCarthy was a member of McCarthy for the Republic of Ireland Under-16 team at the 2000 UEFA European Under-16 Football Championship as well as the Under-19 side in 2002’s UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship. McCarthy was a part of the B and Under-21 teams as well. His first goal for the Blades came in the next match in a 2–2 draw against Leyton Orient at Bramall Lane. At the end of the loan period McCarthy returned to Palace and was named amongst the substitutes for an away fixture against Manchester United on 8 November. However, on 11 November, it was confirmed that McCarthy’s loan with the Blades had been renewed until 28 December 2014. In his first game back at United, McCarthy was sent off in a Yorkshire derby away at Doncaster Rovers with ten men United eventually going on to win 1–0.
