P. Vijayan is one of the most popular and richest Police Officer who was born on February 4, 1968 in India. This is why Vijayan started the Student Police Cadet Project in August 2010 across 127 schools in Kerala which had 11176 pupils both girls and boys being in the Cadet program (G.O (P) Number 121/2010/Home as of 29-05-2010). The project has been expanded to include a nationwide school network that includes 433 schools and a the combined strength of 35,000 SPCs who are being taught by more than 850 teachers and more than 1500 officers from Kerala Police. The programme is planned to expand throughout India.

He was also in the position of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Battalions) with responsibility for the entire Police Battalions within Kerala as well as an official in charge for Kerala Railway Police. Kerala Railway Police as well as being the DIG (Intelligence). Prior to that, Vijayan headed the police group of Thiruvananthapuram which is the capital city in the State, in the capacity of its Police Commissioner. Beginning his career in policing as the Assistant Police Chief (Kanhangad) in the Kasaragod District in the month of October 2001. Vijayan was District Police Chief of various districts, including Kasaragod, Thiruvananthapuram Rural, Malappuram, Ernakulam Rural and is a unique person for being the first person to be the Police Commissioner in the state of Police in all four Commissionerates of the state, which include. Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kochi. In recognition of his efforts in promoting an environment that is drug-free especially among youth, P. Vijayan IPS was granted an award in 2013 to participate in the Global Tobacco Control Leadership Programme at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Washington DC, USA.

In acknowledgement of his efforts to promote a drug-free community, Vijayan was awarded a fellowship in 2013 to attend the Global Tobacco Control Leadership Programme at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Institute for Public Health in Washington DC, USA. Subsequently, Vijayan has been designated as state coordinator to lead the statewide school-level anti-drug abuse campaign of Government of Kerala, viz. “Safe Campus Clean Campus”

In recognition of his social commitment and appreciable service, Vijayan was honoured with CNN-IBN Indian of the Year (Popular Choice) – 2014, an honour that embodies Greatness.

Puthiyottil Vijayan was born on the 4th of February, 1968 in an unaffluent family living in a remote hamlet named Puthoormadam close to Kozhikode within North Kerala. He is the third child from P.
