Owen Archdeacon is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on March 4, 1966 in Greenock, Scotland, United Kingdom. Owen Duncan Archdeacon (born 4 March 1966 in Greenock) is an Scottish former professional footballer. He started his professional career at Celtic before moving on to represent Barnsley, Carlisle United and eventually Greenock Morton. Archdeacon was a left-winger throughout his career, however, he shifted back into a defensive role later in his times.

Archdeacon quit his club at the end of 1996 and joined Carlisle United and was a regular part of the team for a time and a half. He was awarded a winner’s medal in April of 1997, when his team beat Colchester 4-3 with penalties and won the Football League Trophy.

Over the next three years a variety of factors dented his confidence however, and despite his undoubted skill on the ball he failed to become a first team regular at Celtic Park. He did however experience the joy of scoring against Rangers, capitalising on carelessness between Rangers full-back Jimmy Nicholl and goalkeeper Chris Woods by nipping in between them and toe-poking the ball from 15 yards into an empty net. It was Celtic’s third in their 3–1 win in April 1987. Archdeacon made a handful of appearances at the start of the following season, the club’s Centenary season (1987–88), and he scored direct from a free kick in a 3–2 win over Falkirk in October 1987. However, the arrival of new signings Frank McAvennie and, in particular, Joe Miller, saw Archdeacon drift out of manager Billy McNeill’s plans as the season progressed.

In June 1989, Archdeacon was transferred to Barnsley for a fee of £80,000 and became a fixture of the Yorkshire club over the next seasons. Archdeacon played 233 games in”the “Tykes”, scoring 23 goals. Barnsley were a well- established team in England’s second division in the early days (Division Two until 1992 when it was changed to Division One upon the establishment of the FA Premier League), not quite achieving promotion, even though they missed out on a play-off slot in the 1990-91 season due to goal difference.
