Dabo was placed onto the move list in response to Sven-Goran Ericsson as well as team mates Danny Mills and Paul Dickov. Mills along with Dickov both went out on loan, however Dabo was still at the club. After playing in his first League Cup game on 29 August 2007, he returned to Lazio on January 30, 2008 for only EUR263,000. He signed a contract that ran until 30 June 2010. On May 13, 2009 He was awarded the win in the penalty shootout give Lazio an advantage of 6-5 after a draw of 1-1, beating Sampdoria during the 2009 Coppa Italia Final.
Dabo retired from football on 18 July 2011 after struggling with injuries throughout the 2011 MLS season.
After seven months without a club, Dabo signed with Major League Soccer club New England Revolution on 8 February 2011. He made his MLS debut on 7 May 2011 in a game against the Colorado Rapids.
After being approached by a number of Premier League clubs in 2006, Dabo joined Manchester City through the basis of a Bosman transfer in 2006, signing a three-year deal. Dabo stated that he had a positive opinion of the club that resulted from a friendly match between Manchester City and Lazio at the City of Manchester Stadium as one of the main reasons for signing with Manchester City. The debut of the club was in the first match in the new season which ended in a 3-1 Premier League defeat to Chelsea. In the third City appearance, he was given an red card following an aerial tackle with the Reading’s Steve Sidwell, and was suspended for three games. However an injury to his knee suffered during training led to the need for a longer absence and he was not able to appear again until the middle of December. Then, he had a streak of thirteen consecutive appearances however, he was forced to withdraw due to injuries. When he returned to full fitness the player struggled to find his place on the team. He made only one more appearance in the season 2006/07.

Dabo began the career of his at Stade Rennais, before he and his teammate Mikael Slvestre were recruited as players by Internazionale during 1998. Dabo did not make the cut as a first-team player for Inter however, and just a few months later, Dabo was loaned to Vicenza and made thirteen Serie A appearances. Dabo was a regular in Parma in the direction of Arrigo Sacchi, who made 16 appearances. Then, in June of 2000 Inter declared that Silvestre as well as Dabo were purchased for just L3 million and later sold at L30 million. In June 2000, he switched clubs once more, before returning in the French league along with Monaco in exchange for a deal that included Sabri Lamouchi. Six months later , he was back in Vicenza on loan and later in the final season, he signed a contract with Atalanta. In the Bergamo club, he earned regular first team football and in 2003, he was awarded the opportunity to join the France national team for the FIFA Confederations Cup, which Dabo called “a surprise”.
In 2003, Dabo joined Lazio. Dabo was signed to Lazio together with teammate Luciano Zauri. At first, it was an ownership share deal, but the price was increased the total to EUR3.225 millions and EUR5.65 million in transfer fees when Lazio purchased the rights to duo remain on June 4, 2004. Dabo became a prominent and popular player in the Lazio midfield thanks to his organized style of play. He played an appearance in 79 games for Lazio.
On 1 May 2007, Dabo was assaulted by his team mate Joey Barton at City’s training ground. Dabo stated that he had been hit several times, and had to go to hospital after suffering injuries to his head during the incident, including a suspected detached retina. Dabo requested that the police press charges against Barton, and as a result, on 16 May 2007, Barton was arrested and questioned by Greater Manchester Police. Barton pleaded guilty to the assault. Barton later claimed on 8 April 2011 that, in fact it was Dabo who started the fight, and he was merely defending himself. After Barton signed for Marseille on 1 September 2012 on a season-long loan, Dabo questioned the arrival of the Englishman at the Rhone club and called his former teammate a coward for constantly hitting him when he was face down on the floor.
