Karas is a member of the Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs as well as the Special Committee on Tax Rulings and other Measures of a Similar the nature or impact. In 2012 through 2014 Karas was among the vice- presidents of the European Parliament. In the wake of the elections in 2019 He has been as one of the vice-presidents. Since the 2019 European Parliament election, Karas has been serving as one of its Vice-Presidents; in this capacity, he is part of the Parliament’s leadership under President David Sassoli.
