On the 21st of November 2008, his”2″ Cameras @ Sea (2008) premiered at Muziekgebouw at the IJ, Amsterdam during SHIFT the Canadian as well as the Dutch Arts Festival. Van Dillen composed the music for the Canadian group “Continuum Contemporary Music”.
Also in 2009, Original Winds from Breda performed his ballet music in an extended series of music and dance performances in Rotterdam.
In April 2009 Continuum Contemporary Music of Toronto premiered 2 Cameras @ Sea, a collaboration between Oscar van Dillen and Canadian filmmaker Clive Holden, commissioned by the Canada Council for the Arts. The performance took place at the Images Festival in Toronto, and was repeated in Amsterdam.
He was the first chairman for the Dutch chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation and one of the foundation’s founders. From December 2006 until July 2007, he was an active part of the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation. He also serves as the vice-president of The Netherlands – Turkey Friendship Foundation.

Van Dillen studied North-Indian classical music (sitar tabla and singing) in the presence of Jamaluddin Bhartiya at the Tritantri School in Amsterdam and bansuri with Gurbachan Singh Sachdev at the Bansuri School of Music in Berkeley, California from 1977 to 1980, aswell with jazz and classical flutes at Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam between 1982 between 1982 and 1984. There, he also took composition instruction at the hands of Misha Mengelberg.
After completing studies in Medieval as well as Renaissance music under Paul Van Nevel in Leuven (Belgium) Then he enrolled in classical composition alongside, among others, Dick Raaymakers and Gilius van Bergeijk at the Koninklijk Conservatory in The Hague in the 1990/91 years and also together with Klaas De Vries Peter-Jan Wagemans and Rene Uijlenhoet at the Rotterdam Conservatory from 1996 to 2002. He also was a student of composition with Manfred Trojahn in The Robert Schumann College in Dusseldorf in 2001. There, he also took lessons on conducting with Lutz Herbig.
On 22 February 2008 his work Paradox – Music for a Sculpture was performed at the Boymans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam.
