Ong began his career as a footballer with Malacca in the 1990s in the beginning. Ong was part of one the Malaysia Olympic teams nicknamed Barcelona 1992 under Chow Kwai Lam. Ong joined the Malaysian FA in 1993. Ong was signed to Sarawak FA where he played for two seasons, before being transfered onto Sabah FA in late 1994. In Sabah Ong, he won the Malaysia FA Cup in 1995 as well as the M-League in 1996.
Ong also was the coach of the club team of the Malaysia U-23 team, Harimau Muda A, who played in Australia’s National Premier Leagues Queensland in 2014. As of 2015 Ong became the the head coach of the Malaysia national team following the resignation of the former head coach Dollah Salleh. Ong was previously in the position on an interim basis since 2014 prior to when Dollah became the head coach. Despite poor performances during this year’s World Cup qualification, Ong was awarded a new two-year contract on January 18, 2016 as the head of national squad.
Ong coached Malacca FA in 2005. Then, in 2009 Ong became the the head coaching at Harimau Muda after K. Rajagopal. Ong won the 2009 Malaysia Premier League with Harimau Muda that season. He was director for the Malaysia national team for under-23 football who played during 2012’s 2012 Olympic Qualifiers as well as the 2011 Southeast Asian Games.

Ong Kim Swee (Chinese: Wang Jin Rui Pinyin: Wang Jin Rui ) is a Malaysian football manager as well as a former player, with his most notable management career as the Head Coach for Malaysia U-23. He spent the majority of his time playing for East Malaysian teams, notably Sarawak and Sabah in the mid-90s.
