The player made debut with Scotland’s Scottish cricket squad on September 18th, 2005, in the C&G Trophy match against Warwickshire. The player has been in the field seven times for Scotland and has played in two One-Day Internationals. He also has played for Scotland at the Under 15 and Under 17, as well as at Under 19 and Under 23 levels as well as at international level. Omer Hussain, a batsman who is left- handed. He is the cousin of his fellow Scottish world-class player Majid Haq. Omer along with his son Majid were chosen to be part of the preliminary World Cup squad which is scheduled for 2007, in West Indies. They were both advised to work on their fitness. Omer was given a chance to participate in a 7-week exercise program at the ICC “boot camp” in Pretoria, at the University of Pretoria. Omer wasn’t selected for the tour to Dubai and Kenya and also in the World Cricket League Division One tournament, which will decide if Scotland will participate during the 2007 Twenty20 World Championship being held in South Africa later in the year. Omer did not get the chance to showcase his ability to bat and is now determined to get on the plane that will be the English players will travel. Omer is currently living in Pakistan and is working alongside his Multan cricket team to enhance his batting skills and establish his place in the future of cricket matches with Scotland. Omer considers the two most memorable moments of his career as a cricketer until now being winning the 2002 Under-19 European Championships in Scotland and getting himself into the 2004 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh after finishing runners-up in 2003’s European U19 championship. Another highlight in his career was his role in helping Ferguslie to win his Colonel’s Scottish Cup in 2005 in which Omer scored the final runs to defeat Aberdeen.
