Omar Razzaz is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 1, 1960 in Salt, Balqa Governorate, Jordan. Razzaz was born in Al-Salt, Jordan, in 1961. He had two siblings, Lam’a Bseiso (1923-2011) and Munif Razzaz (1919-1984). Razzaz was the third of three siblings. He had an older brother , and an older sister. His parents from Syria relocated to Jordan independently in 1925. Lam’a was his mother. Lam’a was a prominent political or social activist from Jordan as well as Palestine while his dad Munif was a doctor as well as a politician, who became Secretary General for the National Command of the Syrian Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party in 1965. Munif was jailed several times during the Jordanian government during the 1950s and the 1960s. In the course of his one-year prison sentence from 1963 Lam’a remembers how Omar aged two was prone to staring at photos of his father, saying “I want him to come to me”. Munif moved into Iraq in 1977, and was a prominent participant in the Iraqi Ba’ath and was later detained in the course of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s 1979 Ba’ath Party Purge. King Hussein was a vocal advocate for Munif’s release to ensure the former soldier could return to Jordan however the president Saddam Hussein adamantly refused. Munif passed away in 1984 while under his house detention in Baghdad His wife, Lam’a says he was killed through the Iraqi Ba’ath following his medication for hypertension was replaced with poison.

In Al-Salt, Razzaz began his education in Amman and later continued his studies in the United States. He was the director of various international and national institutions. He was the Minister of Education within Hani Al-Mulki’s administration as of January 4, 2017, prior to his appointment as the Premier Minister.

Razzaz was enrolled at AUB’s faculty of engineering from 1979 to 1981 and holds a master’s degree in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Razzaz holds a PhD from Harvard University in Planning, with a minor in Economics. He completed his post-doctorate at Harvard Law School.

Omar Razzaz (Arabic: `mr Lrzz; born on January 1, 1961) is currently the Prim Minister in Jordan. He was appointed to lead the new government on June 5, 2018, following the resignation of his predecessor due to widespread protests against the IMF-backed austerity policies in Jordan.

There is no painkiller. This is a long path, a difficult path. But God willing, the target is clear and the leadership is united with the people in achieving it.” In his first cabinet meeting, Razzaz withdrew the income tax bill from Parliament, and promised to have deep discussions about it. The bill was the spark to the protests that led to his predecessor’s ouster. On 9 July 2018, Razzaz delivered his first policy statement to the House of Representatives, Jordan’s lower house of Parliament. On 19 July, Razzaz gained the confidence of the 130-member House with 79-49 votes. A government in Jordan gains confidence by a majority vote (66 votes) in the lower house.
