Oliver Robinson is one of the most popular and richest Basketball Player who was born on March 13, 1960 in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. Oliver Robinson (born March 13 1959) was a former American athlete who played as a shooting guard in the basketball team of NBA’s San Antonio Spurs.

Robinson was a representative of the 58th district of the Alabama House of Representatives from 1998 until the year the year 2016. When he announced the time of his departure in 2016,, he was vice-chairman of the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation. He was a member of the Banking and Insurance, House Education Policy, Financial Services, Military and Veterans Affairs and Rules committees. He also presided over the House Government Operations Committee.

He was elected to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.

On November 30, 2016, Robinson abruptly announced he was leaving his seat and permanently retiring from politics. In a press release, he said he wanted to vacate his seat so that his daughter, Amanda Robinson, could keep a job to which she had been appointed as liaison between the Alabama legislature and Governor Robert Bentley’s office, and thus avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest. He pointed out that his daughter would be the first African- American and the first female in Alabama history to hold that position, and said, “This is why I am retiring now, to give my child every opportunity to succeed.” He intended to “focus on the children where I once lived, Gate City and Harris Homes.”

Robinson is a 6-foot-4″ guard from Birmingham, Alabama who played for the collegiate team in Birmingham’s University of Alabama at Birmingham. Robinson has an honor of being very first player to ever receive an academic scholarship at the university. In his time at UAB, Robinson was a two-time All-Sun Belt First Team Conference selection, and the league’s Player of the year at the time of the year 1982. When he was in his final season, Robinson led UAB to their most successful season. The Blazers finished 25-6 and defeated the No. #1 seeds Virginia during the NCAA Tournament to reach the Mideast Regional Final, in which Robinson won the title of Regional MVP. Robinson’s number was later removed by the school.

Robinson was a graduate of Woodlawn High School in Birmingham in 1978. He enrolled at Birmingham’s University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). After a short stint playing for the San Antonio Spurs, a season in the Continental Basketball Association, and the time spent traveling as a member of Athletes in Action He went back to UAB to complete his degree in 1987 with an B.S. in Urban Affairs. He also earned minors in business, political science and sociology. After graduation , he served as Vice President for AmSouth Bank and manager of its Office of Community Affairs. in 1999, three years following being elected to the House in 1999, he co-founded ABI Capital Management, an investment advisory company and an underwriter, along with Willie Huff.

After his time at a collegiate level, Robinson was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the 1982 NBA Draft (24th pick overall). Robinson was part of the team for more than 35 games with the Spurs during the 1981-83 NBA season, scoring 2.9 scoring points per game during the shortest amount of time.

He served as a Democratic member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 1998 to 2016, representing Alabama House District 58 (Birmingham).
