Puchkova was a part of her first WTA Tour final in Kolkata, India, in September 2006, and fell against Martina Hingis (6-0, 6-4) however she beat the seventh seeds Nicole Pratt en route. The previous week, she made it to the first Tour singles quarter-final in The Tier III Bali, Indonesia getting the first Top 20 win in the process, defeating Ana Ivanovic.

Puchkova began the first phase of her ITF pro career March 2002 , when she took part at four events in Australia where she reached the quarterfinals in Warrnambool as well as Benalla. She made the final in Miami in January, and then the semifinal in Houston in June. Olga Puchkova, coached by her father Alex Poutchkov, was No 1 in the World in the ITF U12 rankings in 1999. She was the winner of the U12 category at the Eddie Herr in 1999, in which she defeated Shahar Pe’er 6-2 in the final 6-2 the following week.
