Oleksandr Lavrynovych is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on June 28, 1956 in Ovruch, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. Oleksandr Volodymyrovych (Ukrainian: Oleksandr Volodimirovich Lavrinovich born on June 28, 1956 at Ovruch) is a Ukrainian scientist, lawyer politician, former member of the Supreme Council of Justice of Ukraine and also an ex- Ukrainian parlamentar and a former minister of Justice of Ukraine. He is a Merited Jurist in Ukraine (2003). He was among the founders of the very first democratically-minded organization in Ukraine in 1989, the People’s Movement of Ukraine and thought as an important one among “fathers” of the independence of Ukraine from the Soviet Union.

In March of 2016, Ukrainian court let the accused Mr. Lavrynovych from any restrictions of the Prosecutor’s office.

On July 13, 2015, on the 13th of July, 2015 Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office announced that Lavrynovych was accused of taking public funds in the amount of greater than 8.5 millions Hryvnia. It claimed that these money was used to fund foreign law firms Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (USA) which helped win the court case before the European Court of Human Rights by the State of Ukraine and at the same simultaneously “to conceal evidence of criminal violations of the law by Ukrainian state law enforcement agencies and the courts” in the trial in the case of Yulia Tymoshenko.

After graduation from the Shevchenko National University in 1978 Lavrynovych was employed for the NAN Ukrainian SSR. From 1981 to 1984, he was a member of the military (chief of the radar station). Between 1989 and 1998, Lavrynovych was among the main leaders of the People’s Movement of Ukraine. From 1990 to 1994 Lavrynovych was a member of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine and was its first Deputy Chairman between 1991 and 1994.

From 1998 to 2001, from 1998 to 2001, he was from 1998 until 2001 a People’s deputy of Ukraine for the People’s Movement of Ukraine parliamentary faction. He then resigned his deputy’s role early. In 2002, Lavrynovych got elected into the Ukrainian parliament as a member of the Our Ukraine party list, but he was unable to be registered. In May 2002, Lavrynovych was appointed Justice Minister by the Kinakh Government. Under the First Yanukovych Government (2002-2005) He was also Minister of Justice of Ukraine. After a brief intermezzo as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of “Ukrnafta” (2005-2006) Lavrynovych returned to politics at the national level in August of 2006 as the First Deputy Minister in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine during the second Yanukovych government. He was then promoted to the position of Minister of Justice of Ukraine and was again Minister of Justice of Ukraine (from the 1st of November, 2006 to the 18th of December, 2007). In the 2007 election for the Ukrainian Parliament, the Deputy was elected to Ukraine for the Party of Regions. Following the resignation of Arseniy Yatsenyuk to his election as Volodymyr Lytvyn to the position of Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Lavrynovych took over the role of acting chairman from November 12 2008 to December 9 in 2008. In the end, Verkhovna Rada refused to include on its agenda a matter regarding the dismissal of the first Vice President Lavrynovych on the 17th of November 2009. Starting 11 March 2010 Lavrynovych became Justice Minister again. On July 2, Lavrynovych was sworn in as a an official member to the Supreme Council of Justice of Ukraine. Olena Lukash was elected to replace Lavrynovych in the position of Justice Minister two days after. On April 10, 2014, Oleksandr Lavrynovych resigned from his post with the Supreme Council of Justice. Since then, he has been acting as a legal expert and is on the Board of Institute for Legal Society the non-governmental organization.
