Oleksandr Kuzmuk is one of the most popular and richest Military Personnel who was born on April 17, 1954 in Slavuta, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukraine. Kuzmuk is born the 17th of April 1954 into a family that included military officers Ivan Fedorovych Kuzmuk (?-1973) and Rayisa Mykhailivna Kuzmuk in a village in Diatylivka, Slavuta Raion (Khmelnytskyi Oblast). In 1975, he was a graduate of Kharkiv’s High Armor Command School. In 1975-80, Kuzmuk started out as a leader of a platoon in armor forces . He later was the deputy chief of staff for one of the regiments. In the 1980-83 period, the year he was an auditor from the Malinovsky Military Armored Forces Academy (Moscow). From 1980 to 1988, Kuzmuk was an instructor at the school.

In the 2012 election for parliament, Kuzmuk was elected to the parliament as a part of the Party of Regions.

In 1995-96, Kuzmuk was the commanding officer for his unit, the National Guard of Ukraine and between 1996 and 2001 he was as Minister for Defense. The year 2001 came to an end and Kuzmuk resigned from his military service and began his political career by taking part during the 2002 Ukrainian parliament elections as a member of the party list For United Ukraine. After winning a few places within the Verkhovna Rada, For United Ukraine was disbanded and Kuzmuk continued to be a member of Labour Ukraine (an off-shot of the Labour Party of Ukraine). At the time of his election in 2004, Kuzmuk was again named as Minister for Defense and he also retained his seat in the parliamentary chamber. Following the Orange Revolution Kuzmuk lost his ministerial position which was then occupied by Anatoliy Hrytsenko.

Oleksandr Kuzmuk (Ukrainian: Oleksandr Ivanovich Kuz’muk born 17 April 1954) is a Ukrainian politician and military officer who is a member of the Party of Regions and was the Minister of Defense of Ukraine (1996-2001, 2004-2005). Kuzmuk was previously the head of his unit, the National Guard of Ukraine (1995-1996) and is the most senior grade within the Ukrainian military, the General from the Army of Ukraine (1998).

In 1988-93 , he served in the leadership positions of the mychanized division. From 1975 to 1993, Kuzmuk was part of his Group of Soviet Forces in Germany, Belorussian Military District, Moscow Military District, Leningrad Military District, Carpathian Military District and Odessa Military District. In 1993-95, he was the commanding officer for the 32nd Army Corps, senior military chief of Crimea.

In the 2014 parliamentary election Kuzmuk tried to win a parliamentary seat through winning electoral district 38 situated in Novomoskovsk; but failed when he ended 3rd in the district with 12.78%. The announcement of the final result for electoral district 38 (won by Vadym Nesterenko) was delayed till mid-November because Kuzmuk challenged the results in court claiming Nesterenko was guilty of fraud and bribery of voters.
