Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Aliyev (Ukrainian: Oleksandr Oleksandrovich Aliiev , Russian: Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Aliev , Azerbaijani: Aleksandr @liyev); (born 3 February 1985) is a Ukrainian footballer with Azerbaijani origin. He is a right-sided midfielder or as a central midfielder. Famous for his stunning goals from free-kicks that are direct and the former FC Dynamo Kyiv coach Yuri Syomin claimed that he is “…the most effective free- kick taker within Europe”. Also, he was renowned for having the shortest Dynamo player to make his debut in 2002 as a professional at the age of Aliyev was 17 years old and six months old.
Following the end of his loan, Aliyev was promoted to the main team of Dynamo which is where he began to shine, particularly under his new Russian director of football Yuri Semin during the 2008-09 season. In September 2008, Ukraine famous Serhiy Rebrov hailed Aliyev’s transformation into an “team player”, when he believed that “Aliyev was just about fun”. He was the key figure to Dynamo’s success during the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League. On 21 October 2008 , he scored a stunning free kick from at most 30 yards away to earn Dynamo Kiev the win against FC Porto. On the 25th of November, towards the conclusion of the game with Arsenal, Aliyev pushed the referee, Alain Hamer, and was given a red card due to his conduct. In the following interview, the player called Hamer as a “kozel” (the goat -eng.) which translates as “idiot” in this context. Dynamo Kyiv finished third in their Champions League group, moving into their group for the 2008-09 UEFA Cup after the winter break. Aliyev was a key player during the tournament as well. He was a part of the majority of the games, and helped Dynamo reach the semi-finals, but they lost to Ukrainian rivalsand then UEFA Cup Champions Shakhtar Donetsk. Dynamo was also the winner of 2008/09 Ukrainian Premier League that season. In the 2009-2010 season, he was in the team that started for Ukrainian Super Cup match against Vorskla Poltava. After just a few minutes of the match, he suffered an injury and had to miss a several months of the start of season. After his recovery Aliyev could not get a start and was asked to be transferred to the Winter break.

In January 2014 Aliyev moved from Dynamo Kyiv to Anzhi Makhachkala on a 2.5-year contract. Aliyev left Anzhi at the end of the 2013–14 season by mutual consent. Shortly thereafter, he re-signed with Anzhi, before having his contract terminated by mutual consent once again in January 2015.
On the 6th of September, 2008. Aliyev was awarded his very first cap in senior football for Ukraine. He was substituted for Maksym Kalynychenko from the second quarter of the match.

Aliyev started his career at Borysfen-2 Boryspil (a secondary team from FC Borysfen Boryspil) in Druha Liha A. It was a club for youth which was playing at a professional level like FC Dynamo-3 Kyiv. Aliyev at the time was still a minor (underage). In 2002 the year 2002, he was a member of Dynamo Kyiv where he was played mostly as a player in Dynamo-2 Kyiv in the Ukrainian First League. He had a great time in the Dynamo-2 league, so it was loaned for Ukrainian Premier League side Metalurh Zaporizhya. With Zaporizhya it was possible to make it to finals of the Ukrainian Cup finals.
Aliyev participated in the under-20s’ of the FIFA World Youth Championship in Netherlands. He was among the top scorers in the tournament, scoring five goals, which was one lower than Lionel Messi, the top scoring player. Aliyev was also a part of the Ukraine national team for the under-21 age group in 2006’s UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship which helped the team to get to the final. His set-piece goal of over 40 yards that crossed the crossbar and was scored into the goal against Turkey during the U-21 Championship is considered to be one of the greatest goals of U-21 Football’s history. He is currently the top goal scorer of the Ukrainian under-21 team , scoring eight goals.
As soon as the first half of Ukrainian Premier League 2009-10 Aliyev began negotiations with Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian Premier League. These negotiations failed and Aliyev remained a Dynamo player until 1 February 2010, when Lokomotiv officially announced the signing of Aliyev to a three-year contract.
