In the year 2011, Olaf and his producer Kristin Andrea released a documentary titled Adequate Beings and two fiction films, City State and Polite People. The documentary Adequate Beings focused on the rural community Olaf’s childhood home, Budardalur valley on the west coast of Iceland in which small farmers are struggling to survive due to their old methods being compromised by the complex rules of trade and market forces that are out of their control. This is happening across the world due to the rapid growth of globalization. The film premiered in the Icelandic documentary festival Skjaldborg and was element of Icelandic film festival. Olaf composed and directed his debut feature film, The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela The film earned him his first Teddy award for Best Feature at the Berlinale (Berlin International Film Festival) in 2008.
