Oksana Lutsyshyn is one of the most popular and richest Pianist who was born on July 22, 1964 in Sokal, Ukraine. In Sokal (Lviv Oblast), Ukraine, Lutsyshyn began her studies in music in the age group of 8. At the age of 12, she attended the Solomiya Krushelnytska Music School in Lviv which she attended for six years with pianist tutor Lidia Golembo. Following graduation Oksana relocated to Moscow. Then she enrolled at the State Conservatory, where she took classes with Valery Kastelsky. She also completed post-graduate (1987) as well as postgraduate (1991) courses. From 1987 until 1989, she performed as accompanist and soloist for the Chernivtsi Philharmonie, Chernivtsi Philharmonic Hall in Ukraine. It was in the Conservatory she had the opportunity to meet younger Andrey Kasparov. Lutsyshyn took part at the Maryland University’s William Kapell International Piano Competition in July of 1990 which was the year she won an award called the Prince George’s County Arts Council Prize. In the following year, with sponsorship from Grazhda the Music and Art Center of Greene County, New York she performed her first recital at the Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall in September of that same year.
Since 2009, she has been Artistic Director with the Norfolk Chamber Consort with husband and pianist Andrey Kasparov.
During production of Hommages Musicaux, the Invencia Piano Duo was introduced to the catalogue of composer Florent Schmitt. Invencia’s dedication to Schmitt’s duo-piano music culminated in the release of four CDs by Naxos Records on its Grand Piano series. Issued in 2012, Volume 1 was voted “Recording of the Month” and “Critics’ Choice” by MusicWeb International and Naxos Records, respectively, in May, 2013. As of November, 2016, it was announced all four volumes would be made available in a box set on the Grand Piano label of Naxos Records, with a scheduled release in January 2017.
The album was released in 2007 by Albany Records, with violinists Desiree Ruhstrat and Pavel Ilyashov, cellist David Cunliffe as well as guitarist Timothy Olbrych, and mezzo-soprano Lisa Relaford Coston, the Invencia Piano Duo produced Hommages Musicaux that included the works of Tombeau de Claude Debussy and the Gabriel Faure tribute.

From 1993 until 1997, after having immigrated from America, she was a guest instructor at the United States, she became a visiting scholar from the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University located in Bloomington, Indiana. She was also a piano instructor at special piano classes at the college. In the same year, she was a violinist with Josef Gingold and Joshua Bell in Mischa Scorer’s documentary film “Joshua Bell”, first broadcast by BBC television in 1994, on Omnibus. The show was later broadcast through Bravo in 1996. It also was awarded to the producer Scorer an CableACE Award in 1997. Also in 1996, she was placed in the 3rd International Vienna Modern Masters Performers Recording Awards Competition. She received Second Prize. Second Prize, with First split between the duo of violin and piano consisting of Dan Almgren and Roland Pontinen as well as Vasilij Meljnikov and AljoschaStarc as well. Lutsyshyn is now a Professor of Music, as part of the faculty of adjunct music located at Old Dominion University, where she provides piano instruction as well as Music Theory. In October 1997, Oksana Lutsyshyn performed with the violinist Isaac Stern and three students in a masterclass at the Wilson G. Chandler Recital Hall, Old Dominion University. Recently, in the month of November, 2014 she performed with the tuba soloist Oystein Baadsvik.
The group was founded in 2003 by Kasparov and Lutsyshyn the Invencia Piano Duo was established in 2003.
Naxos released Volumes 1 and 2, in April and June, 2016, respectively, of a two-album set by the Invencia Piano Duo. Featuring the complete piano works (duo and solo) of author and composer Paul Bowles, this latest recording project was announced upon completion of their work on the music of Florent Schmitt.
