He performs mainly at the Tmu-na Theatre and the Cameri Theatre and has played many great roles within stage adaptations of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, All My Sons, Kazablan and The Comedy of Errors. He also portrayed Joseph Merrick in a stage adaptation of The Elephant Man.
On screen, Shahar has appeared in the 1987 film Unsettled Land, starring Kelly McGillis. He has also appeared in the 2005 historical drama film Munich. Among his most recent screen performances was in a 2017 film directed by Doron Eran.
