Norovyn Altankhuyag is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 20, 1958 in Ulaangom, Uvs, Mongolia. Altankhuyag is a native of Uvs Province in Mongolia and was a student at Ulaangom’s first secondary school from 1966 to 1976. He then graduated from in the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the National University of Mongolia. Following his graduation ceremony, he was honoured to remain as professor at the university.

After the 2012 Mongolian legislature election Norovyn Altankhuyag won the election as the Mongolian Prime Minister. In his time as Prime Minister, Altankhuyag created a number of government bonds, and was the head of the most rich government in Mongolia. According to Altankhuyag stated on “Tsenzurgui Yaria”, a show on TV where famous people get to ask questions without censorship which he claimed was the reason of the Vote of no-confidence in the Parliament was because he did not accept Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj’s opinions on issues. Although, the Mongolian President Mongolia does not have any real power, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj strong armed Altankhuyag in matters of government issues. He later held a very angry view of Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj. He coined the term Shudarga busiin Hongil, known as a in a non-veracious cave.

In 2008, following the Mongolian elections for the parliamentary seat, Democratic Party Leader Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj was forced to resign in the wake of the election’s controversial loss in the election. Altankhuyag was elected the new leader of the Democratic Party. Under his leadership, the Democratic Party of Mongolia has unveiled the “Mongolian People-2020” action plan to enhance the values of the democratic process and civil society.

He worked as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia in the coalition government of the Mongolian People’s Party and Democratic Party of Mongolia in 2008–2012. Previously, he served as the Minister of Agriculture and Industry in 1996–2000 and the Minister of Finance in 2004–2006. He served as senior advisor to the President of Mongolia, Khaltmaagiin Battulga, from 2017 until his resignation in early 2019.
