Noriko Matsueda (Song Zhi Zi, Matsueda Noriko born December 18th 1971) is a Japanese former video game composer. Her most well-known work is her work in games like the Front Mission series, The Bouncer and Final Fantasy X-2. Matsueda worked with composer Takahito Eguchi on a variety of games. Composing music from an early age, she started studying both the electronic and piano at just three years old. The school she graduated from was the Tokyo Conservatoire Shobi, where she got to know Eguchi.

She collaborated with Eguchi for the creation of the soundtrack for Final Fantasy X-2 in 2003 and Matsueda providing the majority of the themes for the setting. The soundtrack replaced Final Fantasy’ s regular composer, Nobuo Uematsu, to compose a piece completely different from the previous Final Fantasy X, their score has been hailed as one of the most-criticized music scores in the series. However despite the negative reaction and the low budget, the project was commercially profitable. In the next year, she was working for Final Fantasy X-2′ s international version Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission and provided three arrangements for on the Final Fantasy X-2 Piano Collection album. It was the Piano Collections album was her last work to be credited and she’s been a part of Square Enix along with Eguchi.

The year 1999 was the time Matsueda as well as Eguchi created their very first significant collaboration making the role-playing race game Racing Lagoon, with synthesizer programmer Ryo Yamazaki contributing three tracks. Matsueda was the composer for all the music with the exception of the opening, battle and closing themes. They also collaborated for the soundtrack of The Bouncer for the PlayStation 2 title The Bouncer in 2000. The two of them shared a larger part for the score. The majority of the songs produced were not utilized in the game, and there were numerous post-production requirements. Then, Matsueda created 25 pieces of background music for Square’s PlayOnline viewer, which was used in Final Fantasy XI and Tetra Master.

The company was acquired by Square (now Square Enix) in 1994, and composed the music to nine of their games. The last work she was credited with is Final Fantasy X-2′ s piano arrangement album, Final Fantasy X-2 Piano Collection in 2004, following when she decided to quit the company with Eguchi. She composed mainly jazz music to accompany the scores she was working on.
