The allegations of sexual misconduct against Edison emerged in February 2018 and prompted two organizations, Edison’s Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Elora Singers to place him in a leave of absence pending an investigations. The results of an investigation by a third party resulted in Edison being dismissed from the role as the leader of The Elora Festival and The Elora Singers in the middle of April 2018. It was reported that the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and St. John’s Elora also chose to let Edison go on the basis of their own investigation in the spring of 2018.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, the son of George and Marian Clarissa (Frost), Edison graduated from Jarvis Collegiate in 1978 and Wilfrid Laurier University in the year 1985. Then, he relocated into Elora, Ontario to study piano with Victor Martins. He was a conductor alongside Robert Shaw, Helmuth Rilling and Sir David Willcocks, Wayne Riddle and John Alldis. He was appointed conductor in 1997. was named as the conductor for the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir.
