Dhiman was born the 24th of July the 24th of July, 1980 at Overland Park, Kansas to immigrants from Punjab, India. He was a student and played basketball in high school in The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Missouri winning two Missouri 2A state championships with the future NBA stars JaRon Rush as well as Kareem Rush. Pembroke Hill is ranked 24th in the country according to Street Smith and Street’s College Basketball. Dhiman was the leader of the team’s the percentage of three-point field goals at 44 percent. The state championships were taken away after his AAU coach Myron Piggie was found guilty of an indictment of conspiracy to pay 35,500 dollars to the high school students who were part of his Kansas City-based team between 1996 and 1998. The players were JaRon Rush Kareem Rush Corey Maggette, Korleone Young; and Andre Williams.

In the 2006 season Dhiman made his return to I.G.K. within the Dominican Republic but missed two weeks due to an injury to his eye. In July 2007 Dhiman was paired with the former NBA player Steffond Johnson to play in the NBA Summer Pro League in Los Angeles. Following a brief break to focus on his medical work, Dhiman again competed at the 2012 NBA Summer Pro League in Los Angeles while playing for the former NBA player Jerry Reynolds. The year 2013 was the first time Dhiman became a member of the ministry for sports, Athletes in Action, to take part in an exhibition tour in competition against professional and collegiate teams from Puerto Rico.

Nitin Paul Dhiman is an Indian – American physician and former professional basketball player. He is 6 ft 3 in tall and plays guard. He has played professionally in the Dominican Republic in the Baloncesto Superior de Santo Domingo, the American Basketball Association (ABA), and the NBA Southern California Summer Pro League.

In the 2004 season, Dhiman signed with Ivan Guzman Klang (I.G.K.) as part of the Baloncesto Superior de Santo Domingo. He scored 15.4 points and was selected to the all-star squad during his debut season. He also took home the contest with three points. The year 2005 saw Dhiman came back to United States and played at the NBA Summer League which was coached by the former NBA centre Olden Polynice. In the following season, he was released on a no-cost contract with the NBA’s San Diego Wildcats. The former NBA Co-Rookie of the Year, Bill Tosheff, served as Dhiman’s agent.

Instead he attended Iberoamerican University in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where he was a standout guard on the basketball team. From 1999-2003 Dhiman scored 2,334 points and became the school’s all-time leading scorer and set numerous school scoring records.
