Nina Dittrich (born November 20 in 1990, in Vienna) was an Austrian swimmer, who has a specialization in butterfly and freestyle events. She has been a multiple-time Austrian champion, five-time record holder for the national championship, and is a member of the Simmering Swimming Club (German: Schwimmverein Schwechat Simmering) in Schwechat. Dittrich has a sister named Ulrike Bauer, who is an Austrian world record-holder for both the 100 and 200 m breaststrokes as well as Kurt Dittrich, a sprint butterfly swimmer who participated in the 1988 Summer Olympics from Moscow.

Four years after she competed for the first time in an Olympics, Dittrich qualified for her second Austrian team as a 22-year-old, in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London with an B-standard time for entry of 8:39.67 for the ladies’ freestyle 800 meters. She was one of seven athletes in two heats, which included the two-time Olympians Khoo Cai Lin of Malaysia and Lynette Lim from Singapore. She finished fifth place, less than 0.03 of a second. This was less than a second slower than Mexican’s Patricia Castaneda Miyamoto, with an estimated times of 8:45.41. Dittrich however was not able to make it into the final, since she placed 28th in overall results. Following she had completed the Olympics, Dittrich announced her decision to end her swimming career.

In the 2010 European Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Dittrich achieved an eighth-place finish in the women’s 1500m freestyle. She posted a nation-wide world record time in 16:23.63.

She was ranked 17th of 36 competitors in her preliminary heats.
