Nikos Dendias is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on October 7, 1959 in Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece. Dendias has been born in Corfu at the age of 1959 however the family he is from hails from an island in Paxoi. He was educated at Athens College. Athens College, received a degree in law from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as well as having a master of Laws in Maritime and Insurance Law from the University College London and in Criminology from the London School of Economics.

Two reshuffles in 2014 Dendias was made Minister of Development and Competitiveness (10 June to 3 November 2014) From 3 November 2014 until 27 , January 2015. He was then as Minister for National Defence.

Since 9 July 2019 Dendias has been serving as the Foreign Minister of Greece in Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s New Democracy-led government which won the 2019 Greek legislative election. In August 2019, Dendias summoned the Turkish ambassador to “express Greece’s deep discontent” with the arrival of sixteen boats carrying about 650 people from Turkey on Greece’s Lesbos island.

On January 8, 2009 Dendias appointed Minister of Justice as part of the government that was formed by Kostas Karamanlis. He served for a brief period until the resignation of the cabinet on the 7th of October, 2009 following the defeat of ND in the election of October 4. As part of the cabinet coalition of Antonis Samaras that was formed following the elections of June Dendias was first appointed to the position of Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection (21 June 2012 to 10 June 2014). In his time as a minister his administration was stricken by rising anti-immigrant violence and political turmoil. The agency was the target of criticism for refusing refugees asylum Syrian refugees, and also detaining migrants who are aplenty into its borders in “unacceptable” conditions. In addition, Dendidas assigned the police anti- terrorism division to look into for the actions of Greece’s Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party and proposed legislation that would shut down state-funded funding for the party.

Nikolaos (Nikos) Dendias (Greek: Nikolaos Dendias ; born 7 October 1959 in Corfu) is a Greek politician and lawyer of the right-wing New Democracy party. He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament for Corfu and served as Minister of National Defence from November 2014 until January 2015. At the time of writing his position is that of the International Minister for Greece.

An attorney in practice Dendias is a practicing lawyer who has been involved within New Democracy since 1978, initially as a member of the ND’s student wings DAP-NDFK. Later, he was functionary of the party within the Youth Organisation of New Democracy. He was elected the MP of Corfu to the Greek parliament in 2004 and 2007 elections, as well as the and the June elections of 2012.

In October 2019, Dendias condemned Turkey’s invasion of Syria, stating that “Turkey is making a big mistake”. Furthermore, about Turkey’s plans for the creation of a safe zone in Northern Syria for the Syrian refugees to be resettled, at the expense of the local Kurdish population he stated that it “is illegal since the resettlement of immigrants must comply with some basic principles: to be voluntary and dignified. […] Therefore, what Turkey does, goes against human rights”.
