After he retired as a player, the trainer was employed for FC Dordrecht, before becoming a trainer at Sparta Rotterdam in 2003 and in 2004. He later managed amateur side Door Ontwikkeling Tot Ontspanning.

Jalink recorded four goals over the course of 26 games between 1992-93 before moving his goal scoring to Sparta Rotterdam. Jalink scored five goals in 28 games during 1994-95, and 4 goals over the course of 32 matches during 1995-96. The 1996-97 season was spent playing for NAC Breda, featuring in 25 league matches. Then he returned to Sparta and made 17 appearances between 1997 and 1998 and scored three goals. He scored two goals in the course of 23 games in 1998-1999; Sparta finished in the play-off zone for relegation, but they were able to win their group to stay in the top flight. Jalink was then moved to the Eerste Divisie to play for FC Dordrecht. Jalink scored 4 goals over 22 games between 1999 and 2000 and two goals in his 24 appearances in 2000-01, prior to declaring his retirement.

Jalink began his career with Excelsior Rotterdam. The club made him a replacement 24 August 1983 against Roda JC Kerkrade at the Gemeentelijk Sportpark Kaalheide, replacing Carlo van Tour. Four goals were scored over 27 games during 1982-84’s season. He then scored nine goals in the course of 31 games between 1984-85, and eight goals in his 33 appearances during 1985-86. Jalink was then hired to Eredivisie adversaries AZ Alkmaar, and played 27 games between 1986 and 1987, and scored six goals over 17 games in 1987-88. AZ were eliminated in 1988, however Jalink was still in the top league when he changed teams to join Fortuna Sittard, along with his teammate Pier Tol, and scored two goals in 15 games during the final stretch of 1987-88’s campaign. He scored six goals over 29 appearances between 1988 and 1989, after which he joined RKC Waalwijk. He scored only two goals over 23 games in 1989-90. He then scored five goals during the 1990-91 season.

He quit Holland to go to England to join Port Vale in June 1991. He played quite regularly until he was let go on January 22, 1992. He was a part of 32 games with John Rudge’s “Valiants” in 1991-92, scoring one goal in a 1-0 victory over Derby County at Vale Park on November 6. The club was dropped from the Second Division. The contract was terminated in March 1992 , and he returned to his home country to sign a new contract to RKC Waalwijk.
