He participated in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was the winner of the Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in the year 2006.

After a long and successful hockey career, Wallin finally got the opportunity to play for Sweden at the world championships in 2008. World Championships, in which Wallin did not disappoint by scoring two goals and providing two assists over seven games.

On 15 June 2011, Wallin signed a three-year contract to return home to captain Luleå HF of the Elitserien. After one season with the club, Wallin ended his professional career due to injury.

Wallin’s career got underway with Bodens IK, his hometown team. After making a breakthrough in the 1995-96 season, he got taken over from Brynas, the Swedish Elitserien squad Brynas. After a few years in the team of Brynas, Wallin was drafted in the fourth round 97th overall, by the Hurricanes during the 2000 NHL Entry Draft and remained with the team until February 2010. The 2004-2005 NHL lockout Wallin was back in his home country of Sweden and played 38 games with Lulea. He was awarded the very first Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes.
