Nick Hayden, born February 4, 1986, is an American football defensive player in the National Football League. He played for the Carolina Panthers (Cincinnati Bengals), Dallas Cowboys (Dallas Cowboys) and the Cincinnati Bengals (Cincinnati Bengals). He played college football for the University of Wisconsin. The Carolina Panthers selected him in the sixth round of 2008 NFL Draft.

He was not able to play in 2012 and was therefore signed by the Dallas Cowboys to a futures contract on February 10, 2013. This contract will provide additional depth for training camp. Due to the many injuries sustained in the defensive line, Hayden was able to climb the depth charts and become the team’s starter at left defensive tackle. Hayden was a reliable player, starting 16 games and playing well against the run. Hayden finished the year with 51% of all Cowboys defensive linemen’s snaps (821), and the most tackles (51). He had 16 quarterback pressures and 2 tackles for losses, one forced fumble recovery, one touchdown, and two tackles for loss.

In 2014, he started 16 games and led the team’s defensive linemen with 52 tackles, while also registering 4 tackles for loss (tied for second on the team), 8 quarterback pressures and one pass defensed.

In 2015, he didn’t start against the New England Patriots, when the team opened with only 3 defensive linemen. He posted 15 starts, 54 tackles (4 for loss), 5 quarterback pressures and 2 passes defensed. He wasn’t re-signed at the end of the season.

The Carolina Panthers selected Hayden in the sixth round (181st overall), of the 2008 NFL draft. He was a regular starter at left defensive tackle in 2010 with 51 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 quarterback pressures. On September 3, 2011, he was released.
