It was concluded on the 24th May 2012. The day prior to Khuzwayo’s signing, AmaZulu’s general manager Peter O’Connor suggested that it would be in the player’s best interests that the club allow him to join Chiefs. Tapuwa Kapini is still with us for three more years so it was decided that we would release “Casillas” [Khuzwayo] as he won’t be the first-choice goalkeeper. To allow him more game-time, we decided to let him join Chiefs. He made his debut against Platinum Stars at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 28 April 2013. It was supposed to be the title decider, but it ended 0-0. With Chiefs, he won the league and cup double. He played in four matches during the 2013-14 season. He was part of a 2-0 victory over Golden Arrows in league play, another against AS Vita in CAF Champions League play, a win over Black Leopards, and a win over FC Buffalo in the Nedbank Cup. He scored his first league goal after joining Chiefs in the 2014-15 season, a 2-1 victory over University of Pretoria. Khuzwayo was the favorite to take over as goalkeeper for Itumeleng Khune’s eagerly awaited MTN 8 final. Stuart Baxter, Coach, said that Itu was one of our best players and we will miss him. My Lamborghini might not be working today so I may have to get the old Porsche. One of our “keepers” has to now be a Porsche. He may not be a Lamborghini yet, but he could be that Porsche. Let’s see if they can step up. After receiving the Man of the match award, Khuzwayo thanked all those involved in his Soweto derby debut, 20 September 2014. Despite being called the “weakest Link”, Khuzwayo saved many goals in Chiefs’ win over Orlando Pirates. “First and foremost, I want to thank my family. My brothers, my friends.
