She was Yahya Jammeh’s last Minister for Foreign Affairs in 2015-2017 and Gambian Ambassador to America in 2009.
In 2005, MacDouall Gaye was elected Secretary of State for Trade, Industry, and Employment. This position she held only for a few months. After being appointed Secretary of State for Communication and Information Technology in 2005, she was succeeded by Fatim Badjie. She was supposed to become the Gambia Permanent Representative to United Nations. But, Susan Waffa Ogoo was elected to this role.
MacDouall–Gaye was elected Managing Director at the Observer Company Ltd., publishers of The Daily Observer on 19 June 2008. Dida Halake was still in custody at Kotu’s police station at that time. She was replaced by MacDouall- Gaye. MacDouall–Gaye was the Gambian Ambassador to America until her appointment on 30 January 2009. Musa Mboob (former Inspector General of Police) was also appointed Deputy Ambassador to America. On 12 August 2009, her position as Ambassador was ended.

MacDouall–Gaye was born and raised in Banjul. She graduated from St Joseph’s High School in 1974. In 1980, she received a diploma as a mass communication specialist from Radio and Television Training Institute. It is part of Maspero TV building in Cairo, Egypt.
