Neil began indoor karting with his brother Alex. Under the guidance of Stevan McAleer, a racing driver, the duo raced and trained at the Grand Prix New York facility in Mount Kisco. McAleer raced in many classes, winning the 2015 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (ST) class. Verhagen began racing at the Oakland Valley Race Park club circuit and joined the WKA as well as various Rotax Max racing series. Verhagen finished second in 2012’s Florida Winter Tour Minimax series. Verhagen defeated many hopefuls like Logan Sargeant and Trenton Estep.
