Neil Haddock is one of the most popular and richest Boxer who was born on June 22, 1964 in Newport, Wales. Neil Haddock, born 22 June 1964 in Wales, is a former super featherweight and lightweight boxer. He won a silver medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games as a lightweight before he became a professional boxer. Although his early career as a professional lightweight wasn’t very well-known, he returned to boxing stronger and lighter after an eye injury that forced him to retire from the sport for a year. He became the Welsh super featherweight champion in 1992 and won the British title five months later. In 1994, he retired from boxing.
Due to a retina injury, Haddock had to stop boxing for a time. Haddock lost weight during his absence from boxing and was now fighting at super featherweight. Haddock was happy at his new weight, and he entered the most successful period in his professional career. Barrie Kelley, Andy DeAbreu and Andy DeAbreu were Haddock’s opponents at his new weight. Both would go on to hold the Wales super-featherweight championship. Haddock defeated Kelley by points in six rounds, exactly one year and a half after Robinson’s loss at the Star Leisure Centre, Cardiff. He faced DeAbreu a month later on 17 December 1991 and won by technical knockout in round three.
At the end of 1992, Haddock beat Harry Escott, before successfully defending his British title against Steve Walker in July 1993, another technical knockout, this time in round seven. His final career win was against future Welsh super featherweight champion John T. Williams. Fought at the Cardiff Arms Park, the match was the main undercard bout for the Lennox Lewis vs. Frank Bruno encounter. His first defeat at super-featherweight came on 23 March 1994, in a title challenge for his British belt. Fought in Cardiff, his opponent was Floyd Havard, a fighter from Swansea who had already held the title between 1988 and 1989. Scheduled for 12 rounds, the match only reached the tenth, with Havard beating Haddock by technical knockout. Haddock fought just once more, a challenge for the EBU super-featherweight title, held in Cayenne, French Guiana against Jacobin Yoma. This was Haddock’s first match outside Britain, and he struggled with the climate, losing the fight in the sixth. He retired from boxing soon after.
Haddock was next seen on the undercard of the British super-featherweight title bout between Hugh Forde & Joey Jacobs on 18 September 1990 at Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall. Ditau Molefyane, future WBF superfeatherweight champion was his opponent. After being knocked down in the first round, Haddock was forced to retire from his corner.
