Foulds was the runner-up for the 1986 UK Championships, 1987 British Open and made it to the semi-finals of the Masters three times, in addition to the World Championship. Foulds retired in 1986 and became a BBC commentator. He is now part of the presenting crew for ITV and Eurosport.
Foulds won the 1992 Scottish Masters title and also won 1992’s edition of Pot Black. He beat Nigel Bond, Jimmy White, Ronnie O’Sullivan, and James Wattana on the way to the final.
Foulds made a brief reappearance as a player in November 2011 in the World Seniors (aged 48) before eventually losing to Dene O’Kane.
At the end of the season he qualified for the final stages of the World Championship at his first attempt. Even more impressively however, he then defeated twice-champion Alex Higgins 10–9 in the first round before going down 13–9 to Doug Mountjoy in the last 16, a run that saw him enter the rankings at number 30.
He began to struggle from this point, falling 17 places to 20th place in the rankings. Then he was forced to qualify for the next season’s events. He did manage to make a comeback in 1989/90, and even though Wayne Jones lost the World Championship round one to him, he managed to regain his place in the top 16, before climbing to number seven at 1990/1.

Geoff Foulds was Geoff’s son and he started playing snooker at the age 11 and was already one the best players in his region by the 1980s. Foulds became a professional after he beat John Parrott in final of the national under-19’s Championship.
Foulds quickly rose the ranks in the subsequent seasons, reaching number. Within four years, Foulds was ranked number 3. In 1986, he won the BCE International ranking tournament, defeating Cliff Thorburn 12-9 in final. He was also runner-up in the UK Championship to Steve Davis. In 1987, he reached the semi-finals at the World Championship and lost 16-9 to Joe Johnson. He started the 1987/88 season at number three in his career. However, he was not as successful and lost to Terry Griffiths in the quarter-finals of the 1988 World Snooker Championship. Foulds won the 1988 Dubai Masters and beat Steve Davis in the final. However, this event did not earn any ranking points until next year.
Though he was able to maintain a top 16 place until the end of the 1993/4 season, and a place on the tour until 2003, he played his final match as a Main Tour player on 13 January 2003 before retiring from competitive play aged 39.
