He plays for Atletico mineiro on loan from Premier League team Chelsea. He is a primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a left-winger or second striker.

Nathan made his Serie A debut in May. He was a substitute for Paulinho dias in the second half of a 1-1 away draw against Corinthians. After rejecting a renewal of his contract, the club and Nathan went to court. He was then demoted to the under-23s.

On 1 July 2015, Nathan joined Chelsea for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be in the region of £4.5 million, having initially confirming he had signed in May 2015.

He replaced Baker for the final 21 minute of a 0-2 home loss for a 0-5 aggregate elimination. Three days later, he made his Eredivisie debut in a 1-1 draw against Willem II. He replaced Brown with 25 minutes remaining. He scored his first goal on 14 August, this time as a substitute. This was the end of a 3-0 win at home over Roda JC. Nathan scored his second goal in the club’s 5-0 win over FC Groningen on 4 October.

Nathan was born in Santa Catarina’s Blumenau in 2009. He joined Atletico Paranaense’s youth team in 2009 at the age 13 After initially playing with the Campeonato Paranaense under-23 team, he was promoted to the main squad. He made his debut on 29 January at Sporting Cristal in the Copa Libertadores’ first stage. He played ten minutes as Marcelo Cirino, in a loss of 1-2. He was substituted in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores away at Sporting Cristal a week later.
