Her indoor pentathlon record of 5013 points, is the best in the world for this event.
Dobrynska participated in the 2010 Hypo-Meeting, but was not in top form. She managed a score of 6023 to place seventh (more than 600 points below Jessica Ennis’ winning mark). She was still a strong contender for the gold medal at July’s 2010 European Athletics Championships. Dobrynska finished second in the 200 m race with a time of 24.23 seconds. This was 110 points behind Ennis who won the competition. She scored a personal best of 49.25m in the javelin and was 18 points behind Ennis, with only one remaining event. With a 800 m run time of 2:12.06, she finished the competition. This was another personal record. Her overall score of 6778 was her highest ever performance, and it was also higher than Carolina Kluft’s championship record. Ennis won the gold and set a personal record, leaving Dobrynska in silver. This was her first podium finish at European Athletics Championships.
Dobrynska announced her retirement from the sport in 2013. A special ceremony was held at half-time during a Ukrainian Premier League match between Dynamo Kyiv and FC Illichivets Mariupol at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv on October 20, 2013, marking her retirement from athletics. It was venue she trained and competed at for many years and set her first Ukrainian record.
In September 2010, she returned to competition at Decastar and finished second behind Tatyana Chernova. She had a total score of 6309 points. She finished fifth at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. She received a total 6539 points, and set personal records in the 800m (2:11.34) and hurdles (11.3 seconds each).

She finished eighth at the 2004 Olympics. She was awarded the silver medal in pentathlon at 2004 World Indoor Championships, and the bronze medal at 2005 European Indoor Championships. Although defending champion Ennis was the pre-event favourite, Dobrynska had a consistent tally, including personal bests in the long jump (6.57 m) and 800 m (2:11.15 min) to become the first woman ever to score over 5000 points for the indoor pentathlon. Her world record mark of 5013 points bettered Irina Belova’s twenty-year-old score from 1992. Later that month, Dobrynska’s coach and husband, Dmitry Polyakov, died of cancer. Dobrynska stood for election to the Ukrainian Parliament in the October 2012 Ukrainian parliamentary election as a candidate for the Party of Regions in single-member district number 11 (first-past-the-post wins a parliament seat) located in her native Vinnytsia Oblast. However, she failed to win the seat, finishing in fifth place with 6.45% of the votes.
