Natalie Golda is one of the most popular and richest Water Polo Player who was born on December 28, 1981 in La Habra, California, United States. Natalie Golda (now Benson) was born December 28, 1981. She is an ex-American water polo player, and is currently the head coach for the Fresno State Bulldogs waterpolo team. Competition will begin in 2018. Her senior leadership was a key factor in the 2005 UCLA Bruins winning their seventh national title. Golda was awarded the Peter J. Cutino award in May 2005, which is given to the top player in women’s college water polo. She was also part of the US Water Polo Team, which won the bronze medal in Athens Olympics 2004 and the silver medal in Beijing Olympics 2008. In 2015, she was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame.

Golda was instrumental in helping the US National Team win 2003 Pan American Games, Dominican Republic. This qualification allowed the United States to play Olympic water polo at the Athens Olympiad 2004. The US team won gold at the 2003 FINA world championships in Barcelona, Spain with her four tournament goals. Golda was redshirted in 2004 to participate in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Two goals were scored by her, one against Australia and one against Hungary. She also helped the team win a Bronze medal. She left Greece in April 2006 to play for a team within the League of European Nations called the ANC Glyfada.

In February 2007, Golda was inducted into the New York Athletic Club (NYAC) Hall of Fame with fellow Olympic medalists Heather Moody and Nicolle Payne. The three women were members of the bronze medal 2004 U.S. Olympic team in Athens, and are the first women added to the NYAC Hall of Fame.

Golda was one of three returning players on the USA Olympic water polo team in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In game one of the 2008 Olympics, Golda, the high scorer, led the team with 4 goals to a close 12-11 victory over Olympic newcomer China. Game two against defending gold medalist Italy ended in a draw after Italy managed to score a tying goal with only 22 seconds left in the game. The United States surged in game three against Russia with Golda scoring a team-leading 3 goals in a 12-7 defeat of Russia. In the Olympic semifinal, the U.S. women’s water polo team beat Australia 9-8, with Golda scoring one goal and providing one assist. Golda scored one goal in the championship game against the Netherlands and took home the silver medal from China.

Golda was a defender and a center forward player, winning three NCAA championships at UCLA (2001 2003, 2005). In 2001, as a freshman, she was able to help the Bruins win their first female water polo title. She was awarded Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2002 and was named to both the NCAA All-Tournament Second-Team and All-MPSF Tournament Second Team (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation). Golda was named first team All-American, first- team All-MPSF and first-team All-NCAA in 2003. Golda also led UCLA’s 50 goals. Golda was named Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA Women’s Water Polo Championship. She led her team to victory over Stanford in the title match, a result that marked the end of her senior year at UCLA. Golda scored the first goal in the championship match and led a defense effort that kept the Cardinal to two goals in the second half. The Bruin defense held off a 6-on-5 advantage for the 3-2 victory. In the three tournament games, Golda scored four goals.

Golda was a varsity water polo player for Rosary High School, where she played under Todd Sprague. In 1998 and 1999, her team won the California Interscholastic Federation title. Golda was named First Team All-Golden West League 1996-1999. She was a softball and volleyball player for four years.
