Nancy Richler is one of the most popular and richest Novelist who was born on May 16, 1957 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Richler was the daughter of Dianne Richler and Myer Richler in Montreal, Quebec, in 1957. She grew up with two other siblings. Just hours before Richler was born, her paternal grandfather Jacob died. When she was 18 years of age, she moved to the United States. She attended Brandeis University in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated with a history degree. After graduating from high school, she studied social work, where she worked with youth. In 1986, she earned a Master of Arts in international studies at the University of Denver Graduate School. She was Jewish.
Richler moved back to Montreal in the early 2010s to care for her parents. She was the University of Ottawa’s writer-in residence in 2013-2014.
Richler died of cancer in Vancouver on January 18, 2018, at the age of 60.
Richler’s first novel, Throwaway Angels was published in 1996 by Press Gang Publishers. This book is inspired by the true-life crimes of sex workers that disappeared from Vancouver’s east side. The Arthur Ellis Award was presented to the novel for Best First Crime Novel. Her 2003 novel, Your Mouth Is Lovely, was published by HarperCollins. It is a historical novel that takes place in Russia between 1890-1912. It was translated into seven languages and won the 2003 Canadian Jewish Book Award (fiction) and the 2004 Adei Wizo Award (Italie).

Nancy Richler, May 16, 1957 – January 18, 2018, was a Canadian novelist. Richler’s novels were shortlisted and won two international awards. Richler was also nominated for the Canadian Booksellers Association Author of the year award in 2013.
She moved to Vancouver in 1988 and began writing fiction.
Her 2012 novel The Imposter Bride (published by HarperCollins) is set in post- World War II Montreal and tells the story of a Russian woman who travels to Canada for an arranged marriage, only to be rejected by her would-be husband and instead married to his brother. The book was a shortlisted nominee for the 2012 Scotiabank Giller Prize and was also shortlisted for the Canadian Booksellers Association’s 2013 Libris Award, in the Fiction category. In the same year, Richler was shortlisted for the Libris Award in the Author of the Year category.
