Mykola Lytvyn is one of the most popular and richest Military Personnel who was born on March 8, 1961 in Novohrad-Volynskyi, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. Lytvyn was a peasant child born March 8, 1961, in Sloboda-Romanivska (Zhytomyr Oblast).

Mykola Lytvyn was the chief of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine from 2003 to 2008, and General of the Army of Ukraine (2008). In 2014, he resigned.

Lytvyn was commissioned as the commander of the Internal Troops of Ukraine on July 14, 2001. However, Lytvyn was subsequently appointed the chief of Border Troops four months later, on November 12, 2001. This was a state committee that was in 2003 transformed into an independent state service under Lytvyn. Lytvyn was elevated to General of Army of Ukraine in 2008.

Lytvyn’s military career began in the Group of Soviet Forces, Germany, in 1979-1980. He studied at the Higher Military Political College of Engineer Troops in Donetsk and Forces of Communication from 1980 to 1984. Lytvyn served in the 104th Guards Airborne Division in the Transcaucasian Military District, Azerbaijan SSR, from 1984 to 1990.

Lytvyn studied audit at the Lenin Military Political Academy, Moscow in 1990-93. He served in the National Guard of Ukraine from 1993 to 1996 after completing his graduation. Lytvyn served as a deputy commander of Ukraine’s Internal Troops from 1996 to 2001. He graduated from the National University of Defense of Ukraine in 1998, completed a military course at Harvard University in 1997 and was promoted to Colonel to Lieutenant General of Army (1999). The National Guard of Ukraine was disbanded and most of the members were reintegrated into the Internal Troops of Ukraine.

On October 6, 2014 President of Ukraine Poroshenko dismissed the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Mykola Lytvyn. This is stated in the decree of the President 757/2014 number of 6 October 2014. “Liberate Lytvyn Nicholas Mikhailovich of the Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine,” – said in the decree .
