Murry Linn Barkow, an American college basketball coach, was born August 18, 1961. He most recently served as the interim head coach of the UCLA Bruins. He was the East Tennessee State Buccaneers’ head coach and twice won the title of conference coach of year. The first time he was named in the Southern Conference in 2004, then in the Atlantic Sun Conference 2007.
As interim head coach at UCLA Bartow had a record of 10-10, with a 9-9 record in Pac-12 regular season games. In the Pac-12 Tournament’s first round, the Bruins beat Stanford before falling to Arizona State in quarterfinals. Bartow later stated that he did not want his interim tag removed and expressed optimism that UCLA would hire a “very good coach”.
Bartow was hired as an assistant coach at the University of South Florida (USF) in August 2016.
He was named interim head coach on January 3, 2017 following the firing of head coach Orlando Antigua. Bartow led the team to a 1-16 record during his time as interim head coach.
Bartow led the Buccaneers in the regular season Atlantic Sun Conference title win in 2006-07, with a 24-10 overall record despite three starters being lost. Atlantic Sun Coach of Year was Bartow. For winning the A-Sun Conference Tournament championships during 2008-09 and 2009-10, the Buccaneers were invited to the NCAA tournament.
