Murat Zyazikov Biography

Murat Zyazikov is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on September 10, 1957 in Osh, Kyrgyzstan. Murat Magometovich Zoyazikov (Russian Murat Magometovich Zinkov) was an Ingush politician and the second president in the southern Russian republic Of Ingushetia. He was born in Kyrgyzstan. Zyazikov was an Ingushetia politician.

Uruskhan Zyazikov (72 years old) was abducted in Barsuki by four men armed. On March 29, 2007, a reward of 2,000,000 rubles (approximately $77,000) was offered for information that leads to his release. The kidnappers made no demands at that time. Zyazikov declared that his uncle was still living at a press conference on June 29, 2007. Zyazikov didn’t provide any further information on the kidnapping. Beslan Khamkhoyev (Interior Minister of Ingushetia) resigned and was replaced by Musa Medov one day before the press conference. This is apparently due to the kidnapping. The kidnappers released the uncle unharmed on October 11.

As of 31 October 2008, Zyazikov is one of the few advisors to Dmitry Medvedev. Zyazikov is also the president of FC Angusht Nazran.

Magomet Chakhkiyev, Zyazikov’s father-in law (and member of the provincial legislature), was abducted in Nazran on February 27, 2006. His car had been shot at and crashed. The kidnappers demanded that Zyazikov, Ingushetia prosecutor General Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, and Chakhkiyev resign. The police released him on May 1, 2006, without paying any money to the kidnappers. The kidnappers were not arrested.

Zyazikov, a member the KGB and later the FSB in the 1980s. In the 1990s, Zyazikov was a member of Ingushetia’s security council. On May 23, 2002, he was elected the president of the republic under controversial circumstances. Zyazikov, due to his proximity to Chechnya, is seen as a close ally of the current Russian President and former Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Zyazikov sustained minor injuries when a car bomb was driven into his motorcade. He was sitting in an armored Mercedes W140 on the main road close to Nazran. Zyazikov attributed the attack to Chechen rebels and an Ingushetia raid that killed over 90 people in June 2004.

On August 31, 2008, after using the same aeroplane as Zyazikov, journalist Magomet Yevloyev was arrested at the airport. Yevloyev was shot in the temple and killed while in Nazran police custody. Weeks before his killing, Magomet reportedly knew his life was in danger and had planned on seeking political asylum in a European Union country. Local police claimed that Yevloyev was shot after he had attempted to grab an assault rifle from one of the police officers in the car. Human rights groups have rejected this account of Yevloyev’s death, and the US State Department has called for an investigation of the killing and that those responsible be “held to account for what happened”. A spokesman for Vladimir Putin has said that an investigation will take place, but added that “Yevloyev [had] resisted arrest”. In the summer of 2008, Human Rights Watch was also investigating the country’s record.
