He played in 10 games for the Thunderbirds before being called up to the NBA by the New York Knicks, signing a rest-of-season contract with the team on April 9. He managed just one game for the Knicks over the final week of the regular season, and on July 31, he was waived by the team.
Sene was a member of VOO Wolves Verviers-Pepinster in the Belgian League’s 2005-06 season. He played in 25 games for Verviers-Pepinster and averaged 4.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game.

Born in Thies, Senegal and raised there, Sene initially wanted to be a mechanic but his father encouraged him to play basketball. He joined the SEED Academy in 2003. This program was designed to send Senegalese teenagers to the United States to learn college basketball.
Between 2004-2005, Sene was at two Reebok Eurocamps, Treviso, Italy. He also participated in the Berlin Adidas Camp and played exhibition games against NCAA teams along with the Interhoop African All-Stars traveling team. In Belgium, he played for the Spirou Basket junior team.
Sene returned to the SuperSonics for the 2007–08 season but managed just 13 games for the entire season. He spent the majority of his time in the D-League playing for the Idaho Stampede, earning D-League Defensive Player of the Year honors alongside Stéphane Lasme at season’s end. In 28 games for Idaho in 2007–08, Sene averaged 12.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 27.5 minutes per game.
