Morihiro Hashimoto is one of the most popular and richest Darts Player who was born on February 10, 1977 in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Morihiro Hashimoto, Qiao Ben Shou Roong, Hashimoto Morihiro, 10 February 1977 – 13 April 2017), was a Japanese darts player. He was also known as The Ogre.
Hashimoto was drawn against Matt Padgett, a PDPA qualifier. He quickly gained popularity with the crowd. After winning the first leg and levelling the match at 1-1, the crowd began chanting Hashimoto’s name to “Reach Up (Papa’s Got a Brand New Pigbag),” which was then used by Adrian Lewis as a walk-on. Hashimoto won the match 4 legs to 2, becoming the second Japanese qualifier to reach the premlinary round, after Muramatsu. The Perfecto Allstarz performed the song and Hashimoto wanted it to be played as his walk-on for his match against Gary Anderson. Anderson won the match 3-0. Hashimoto thanked the crowd in English after the match.
In the final of the Japanese qualifier tournament for the 2014 World Championship, Hashimoto defeated Muramatsu 6-5. He defeated Paul Lim 4-2 in preliminary round. He also won the first set against Michael Smith in the first round, but lost 3-1. Muramatsu and Hashimoto watched in June as Canada missed seven darts in its match against the United States in the World Cup of Darts. Muramatsu was able to steal a 5-4 victory. They both lost their singles matches against Michael Mansell and Brendan Dolan, the Northern Irish partners. They were eliminated at the same stage by England a year later after having whitewashed China 5-0. Hashimoto lost 6-2 to James Wade in the first round at the Japan Darts Masters.

Hashimoto was first seen in the PDC circuit in 2009, competing in the Las Vegas Desert Classic qualifiers. Hashimoto tried to qualify for 2010 PDC World Darts Championship but was defeated by Haruki Muramatsu in the Japanese Qualifying Event. Hashimoto beat Mitsumasa Horshino in the final to win the September 2010 qualifier and was then qualified for the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship. He was a quarter-finalist at the Japan Open a month later and reached the final of WDF Asia-Pacific Cup men’s singles in November. He lost to Koha Kokiri from New Zealand.
Hashimoto represented Japan along with Haruki Muramatsu at the 2012 PDC World Cup of Darts. Together they were defeated 5-2 by Sweden in round one.
Hashimoto died suddenly on 13 March 2017 of a brain haemorrhage. His death was confirmed by his sponsor, Monster Barrels, on their Facebook page. A number of darts players paid tribute to him including Gary Anderson, Hashimoto’s opponent in the first round of the 2011 World Championship. He also received condolences from the official PDC website.
