Mitchell Gale, born January 7, 1990, is an American football quarterback. Gale attended Alva High School in Alva and played college football at Abilene Christ University. Gale was a member the Toronto Argonauts (Hamilton Tiger- Cats), Saskatchewan Roughriders (Saska Roughriders), Calgary Stampeders (BC Lions) and other clubs.
Gale and Matt Sewell, both from the Saskatchewan Roughriders, were traded to them for Shawn Lemon (conditional 2018 CFL Draft) and a conditional pick. Mitchell Gale was named the starting quarterback in Week 4. Darian Durant, the game’s starting quarterback, left the game during the second quarter. Gale was the Roughriders first ever CFL starter on July 22. He threw for 354 yards with one touchdown and won a victory at home against the Ottawa Redblacks. Gale would also be starting the week after Durant recovered from his leg injury. Gale was named the Riders’ final week of season quarterback after Durant was eliminated from playoff contention. Gale finished the season with a completion rate of 79 (58%) on 137 passes for 937 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with 3 interceptions. Gale, along with three teammates, was released by Riders on January 27, 2017. This was two weeks before he became a free agent.
After spending a better part of the 2017 CFL season on the bench for the BC Lions, the organization parted ways with Gale despite his never taking an in- game rep for the team.
Gale signed on November 3, 2015 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
