In 1996, he published his first collection of Urdu poetry “Luknat(Fumbling).” The book contains ghazals of both traditional and modern style, along with a few poems (metered as well free versed). It was met with critical acclaim from contemporary men of letters.
Seeing the response on “Treh”, Mir Tanha Yousufi was asked for more. Thus his second novel “Ik Samandar Paar [Across One Sea]”, published in 2000, won the prestigious Punjabi literary award from “Masood Khaddar Posh Trust”.
Taking further courage, he penned down his next novel “Khiddoo [The Cotton Ball]”; which won the award from “Masood Khaddar Posh Trust” for the second time, in the year 2002.
He continued to contribute poems, ghazals, and short stories to Urdu magazines from 1986.

He published two collections of short stories and five novels in Punjabi. His work was transliterated in Gurumukhi script, Indian Punjab. He was also a prominent Urdu and Punjabi poet.
