Unexpectedly, Miossec’s fifth album will feature a symphonic Orchestra backing Miossec’s compositions. This album, titled 1964 to honor Miossec’s birth year, was a surprise to many when it was released in 2004. L’Etreinte (English) followed it. It was originally scheduled to be released on March 2006. However, it was not released until August 21st that year. This coincided with Saint Christopher’s Day. Songs such as “La Facture d’electricite”, (English: The Electricity Bill) and “Trente ans”, (English: Thirty Years) are a reminder of Boire’s lyrical style.

This encouraged Miossec to begin recording a second album. He had previously recorded an album with Yves André Lefeuvre as the drummer and Olivier Mellano, a frequent collaborator with Dominique A, on guitar and violin. They would record Baiser together in 1997 (a double entendre that means “a kiss” or “to fuck”) Baiser, despite being a more complex musical arrangement, was a commercial and critical success for Miossec. Although he was nominated to the Victoires de la Musique prize 1997 for Best Newcomer, he said that he didn’t want to participate in the event.

In 2011, the eighth album was released. It is entitled Chansons ordinaires (English: Ordinary Songs ), a reference to French writer Georges Perros and his novel-poem Une Vie ordinaire (English: An Ordinary Life ).

After having tried 15 compositions, the trio entered a studio to create their first album Boire (English for Drink). It was released in 1995. It was a great debut and was named Album of the Year by Les Inrockuptibles. Boire’s witty, world-weary lyrics, and his sparse, minimalistic musical background would not only be praised by critics, but also become a commercial success, with the album selling over 90,000.
