Djurovski made Yugoslavia’s international debut on 31 March 1984. He was a substitute for Milos Stic and scored the opening goal in a friendly victory over Hungary, 2-1. Djurovski was a later representative of the country at 1984 Summer Olympics. The team won bronze, beating Italy in the match for third place. Djurovski also made five appearances in 1985 for the senior team, scoring once.
In the summer of 1986, Djurovski switched to Partizan in a move that caused much controversy among fans and the general public. He immediately established himself as the club’s key player, being their top scorer in the 1986–87 season, as Partizan won the league title. Afterwards, Djurovski spent the following three seasons with the Crno-beli, including one year of his military service.
In the summer of 1990, Djurovski moved abroad and signed with Dutch club Groningen. He was the club’s top league scorer in his debut season at Oosterpark with 14 goals, leading them to a third place, behind PSV and Ajax. Djurovski was born in Tetovo and joined the youth sections of his hometown club Teteks. In 1977, he moved to Red Star Belgrade. Djurovski, still a junior, made his senior debut with the club as a substitute to Dusko Lukic on the first leg in the UEFA Cup semifinal. It was a 1-0 victory over Hertha BCSC. Djurovski spent the 1979-80 season at Cukaricki on loan, and became the Serbian League (Group North’s top scorer with 15 goals. Djurovski, who had been on loan, helped Red Star win in 1980-81 the Yugoslav First League, scoring five goals. Djurovski was an integral member of the team, and a fan favourite in the years that followed. He helped Red Star win another league title in 1984.
Djurovski began his career at Red Star Belgrade in 1979 when he made his senior debut. Djurovski spent seven seasons with the first team, winning two national titles (1981 and 1984), and two national cups (1982 & 1985). Djurovski, Red Star’s bitter rivals Partizan, made a controversial and surprising move in the summer 1986. Djurovski remained at Stadion JNA for four years, with an inactive season due to his military service. One of his most memorable performances as a Crno-beli player was against Groningen in 1989-90, when he won the European Cup Winners Cup. This tie eventually led to Djurovski’s transfer to the Dutch club in 90. Djurovski continued to play for various Slovenian clubs in his later years.
Internationally, Djurovski represented both Yugoslavia and Macedonia. He earned six caps for Yugoslavia between 1984 and 1985, scoring two goals. After the dissolution of the former country, Djurovski briefly played for his native Macedonia, making three appearances in 1994. He had previously won the bronze medal for Yugoslavia at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
