Michael John Prindle, born November 12, 1963, is a former placekicker for the National Football League (NFL). Prindle was a placekicker for the Detroit Lions for one season in 1987.
Prindle tried to play professional football. Prindle was not selected, but he signed with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1985 after completing college. He was not selected for the final roster, but he had opportunities with the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before being signed in 1987 as a replacement player by the Detroit Lions. Prindle was a part of three games and scored 24 point. Six attempts at scoring a point in his NFL career were made. He attempted seven field goals and made six, for an 85.7% field goal percentage.
Prindle set a record for the NCAA college record by kicking seven field goals in one game in 1984 for Western Michigan against Marshall University. His coach determined that he had made 20 kicks in the entire day, including kickoffs. However, starting quarterback Steve Hoffman had only thrown 21 passes. Jack Harbaugh said, “It was the only time that I know of that we had ice the kicker’s leg instead of his arm.”

Prindle was the Grand Rapids Union High School’s kicker and quarterback. He kicked a 55-yard field kick against Muskegon High School on October 31, 1980. This was the fifth-longest in Michigan high school history.
Prindle continued to kick for Western Michigan University between 1981 and 1984. He was the WMU’s best kicker, with 55 consecutive point-after attempts (PATs). He was named to the WMU All-Century Football Team, which recognizes the best 100 student-athletes of WMU history.
