The Baltimore Orioles selected Ohlman in the 11th round 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He was signed for a $995,000 bonus. He played in four games that year for the Gulf Coast League Orioles, where he recorded a.182 average and one run batted-in (RBI). After struggling in A-level baseball, Ohlman began the 2010 minor league season playing with the Class-A Delmarva Shorebirds. He was then sent to the Rookie Advanced Bluefield Orioles in May. Ohlman was a combined player in 84 games, hitting.208 with two homers and 37 RBI. In 105 games, Ohlman hit.224 and had four home runs.
