After graduating with a degree in journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid, Varela began her career with RTVE in 2005 within RNE’s news department, as an editor at Radio Exterior de Espana. After 2008, Varela was transferred over to RNE Radio 3 to work as an editor and presenter in music programs such as Siglo 21, 180 Grados or Los Conciertos de Radio 3 and also in the radio broadcast of various music festivals.
From 2013 Varela is an TV reporter for TVE in shows such as Comando Actualidad, as well as La manana de La 1 and was also a commentator for the show’s business section. Since July of 2019, Varela co-directs the daytime talk show A starting de hoy.
