Haridopolos began teaching classes at the Bob Graham Center at University of Florida in 2007. The students attended classes in the morning and worked in various agencies or consulting companies. The program helped students to work in Florida and across the country in the legislative process.
In 2010, Haridopolos received criticism for the sudden resignation of then Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer. Haridopolos was later validated when Greer was found guilty and sentenced to eighteen months in prison for theft and money-laundering charges.
In 2010, Haridopolos began to pursue the creation of an innocence commission. The Orlando Sentinel reported that the commission “would study Florida’s disturbing practice of imprisoning innocent people.”
In 2005, Haridopolos supported Wilton Dedge’s claim. Dedge was wrongfully imprisoned and convicted after being tried, convicted, and sentenced. In August 2004, DNA testing exonerated Dedge. Dedge was awarded $2 million in compensation by the claim bill. It was passed during a special session of 2005 in Florida.
