Mike Capuano is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 9, 1952 in Somerville, Massachusetts, United States. Capuano was born in Somerville on January 9, 1952. He is the son of Rita Marie (nee Garvey), and Andrew Capuano. After getting married, his father went into World War II. He ran for the Somerville Board of Aldermen and was elected the first Italian American to the board. His mother was Irish.

Capuano was elected in 1976 to the Somerville Board of Aldermen, representing Ward 5, which he had previously served as by his father. Capuano was elected to the Somerville Board of Aldermen for one term. He resigned in 1979 to run as Mayor of Somerville. He faced Eugene Brune and Paul Haley in the 1979 mayoral elections. Brune won the nomination and he defeated August. Capuano was again running in 1981 to challenge Brune and finished second in a three person runoff election. Capuano endorsed Proposition 2 1/2 as a state ballot question and criticised Brune for increasing the mayoral staff in the face tight city budgets. Brune, however, praised Brune’s prevention of service cuts following the passage of the proposition. Capuano was defeated in the general election by 40%.

Capuano was born and raised in Somerville. After graduating from Dartmouth College and Boston College Law School, he worked as an attorney and Somerville alderman. After losing two mayoral elections in 1979 and 1981, he worked as legal counsel for the Massachusetts General Court. In 1989 Capuano ran for mayor a third time and won, serving from 1990 to 1999.

Capuano was named for his two grandfathers. He has seven siblings. One of them died in infancy and the other died from polio at age 5. Capuano and Barbara Teebagy were married in 1974 and have two sons, Joseph and Michael. He is the uncle to Chris Evans, the Fantastic Four and Captain America movie series actors, and Scott Evans from the soap opera One Life to Live. The City of Somerville opened a new school named in Capuano’s honor in 2003. It officially opened in September 2003.

American politician Michael Everett Capuano, (/k ae/p ju ‘a: n/U/; born January 9, 1952), was a U.S. representative from Massachusetts between 1999 and 2019. His district was a Democrat and included parts of Boston’s northern three-fourths, Somerville and other nearby communities. Before being elected to Congress, his previous roles included Alderman and Mayor in Somerville.

Capuano graduated in 1969 from Somerville High School. He then attended Dartmouth College where he received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in 1973. Capuano went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 1977, specializing tax law.

From 1978 to 1984 Capuano served as chief legal counsel for the Massachusetts General Court’s Joint Committee on Taxation. Capuano left the committee in 1984 to join the Beacon Hill law firm and lobbying group Joyce & Joyce. In 1985 he returned to the Somerville Board of Aldermen as an at-large member.

Capuano has had a long-running relationship with former Congressman Anthony Weiner, whom he shared a Washington, D.C. apartment with for 12 years. Following Weiner’s sexting scandal Capuano did not call on him to resign, saying: “I am not the guy who likes to judge other people. I figure that is between them and the people who are appropriately named to do that – and that is the Ethics Committee.”
