Poiares Maduro was also a visiting professor at Yale University’s Faculty of Law.
Between 2012 and 2013, Poiares Maduro was a member of the European Commission’s High Level Group on Media Freedom and Pluralism. This advisory panel was set up by European Commissioner Neeliekroes and presided over by Vaira Vike–Freiberga.
In 2016, Poiraes Maduro was elected as chairman of the FIFA Governance Committee and its independent Review Committee; his co-chairman is Mukul Mudgal.
Maduro was a member of the Political Committee of Anibal Cavaco, Silva during the 2011 presidential election.
